We’re not dead. あけおめ!

Hello!

Happy 2009! Can you believe it?!? We’re now in the space-age years! I’m kind of bummed that I don’t have a floating car or anything, but it’s still an exciting time for me. Hopefully it is for you, too.

TG the website has been lying low recently. For the most part we’ve just been dealing with custom orders and having occasional sales. Our plans for the year are to basically provide a more streamlined, simpler service for you.  We are currently using two buyers overseas and fulfilling orders on a commission basis. These orders are separate from the web store we operate here, but we still fill them with the same joyful sarcasm that you’ve come to expect.

On a personal note, we understand what a hard year it’s been for a lot of you. I do too, actually, as my day job just went ‘kaput’ and I’m back in the world of semi-professional student-dom whilst I run this site.

Frankly, I took it as a sign. I’m a good general computing guy, a good writer, and an OK logistics person, but I’m a HELL of an ambassador for extreme culture and societal extremity, and that’s what I want to focus on right now whilst I learn programming and whatnot.

I hope to serve up many a slab to you in 2009.

明けまして おめでとう ございます!

(akemashite omedetou gozaimasu…. ‘happy new year!’, or literally ‘congratulations on the beginning!’)

Happy new year… how the hell did I get NHK news here?!?!

Hey all!

Here in SF I spent a quiet and restrained New Year’s day studying some computer stuff and relaxing at home. It was very laid-back and I certainly needed that right before Anime LA. For some reason we get some Japanese TV programs here, so I managed to see some of the 年末年始(NEN-MATSU NEN-SHI) programming available in Japan. New Year’s over there is a massive deal as well, and people send cards months in advance to avoid the embarrasment of not looking thoughtful on New Year’s.

Hell, I can’t even stay up past midnight to see Jan. 1st. On my first New Year’s in Tokyo I was awakened by people ringing the bell at the local shrine. I thought something was on fire or some such shite… turns out people were just covering their bases with God or something. I strolled down and took a swing myself, and it lead to a lovely date the next day at Meiji Jingu in Tokyo with a dear friend.

So yeah, enough of my professional Gaijin-izing. Have a happy new year and take care of yourselves! Oh, and THE SALE IS STILL ON!!! :)
